Registration Formalities

Everybody who lives in Germany – whether a foreign national or German citizen – must register with his or her local registry office (Bürgeramt) and provide an address (registration certificate) or at least have an appointment for registering (in theory within two weeks).

(Sometimes there are no appointments available on the website. Then please visit the website of the Bürgeramt again until you find a slot. )
