The user is able to browse in the categories reference, verse, fiction and non-fiction. Amongst others Bartleby.com offers the complete 70 volumes of the anthology The Harvard Classics.

Bildarchiv der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (bpk)

Photo Agency of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz that contains more than 12 million images from all areas of fine art, culture and history. The user has either the possibility to (re)search (in) the database with already more than 300.000 selected motifs online or to inform himself about the picture collection in the four galleries Museums/Collections, Themes, Photographers and Offers. All captions are still available only in German language.

Bildindex der Kunst und Architektur

The image archive offers about 2 million photographs of art and architecture in Europe. The basis is provided by digital reproductions of microfiches from 1977 till 2000.

The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB) is a cooperative project and exists due to the commitment of cultural and scientific institutions in Germany: Museums, libraries, archives, media libraries and other research institutions digitalise their collections, provide their data to the general public and thus make information and knowledge concerning cultural heritage available.

Internet Archive

The non-profit organization was founded to build an Internet library.

The Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages.

 

Lyrikline

Lyrikline ist the brainchild of the literaturwerkstatt berlin e.V. On this platform,  poems are available to listen to, and to read both in their original languages and various translations: a concert of verse in the voices and languages of the authors.

 

Project Gutenberg:

Project Gutenberg offers over 42,000 free ebooks. Subject areas (amongst others): fine arts, history, language and literature, music, political science, social science, psychology and philosophy, religion. You can find German-language books on the German version Projekt Gutenberg DE. The Gutenberg Audio Books Project comprises human read audio books as well as computer-generated audio books.

 

Zeno.org:

Huge collection of classic books in German. Subject areas: literature (more than 700 authors!), philosophy (from ancient world till modern age), sociology, linguistics, history, cultural history, religion, sciences. Besides it offers an art collection with more than 40.000 images.
